Casual Friday Observation

Temptation comes in the form of options.

It is said you should not go to the grocery store on an empty stomach.
The real danger is coming home, filling your cupboards and, faced with so many options, trying a little of everything. Maybe home delivery isn't such a bad idea, help squash the impulse buying. That, or a personal chef with a lot of tupperware.

Also, variety packs are cellophane wrapped sin in a box.

Have you ever bought a variety pack for the wrong reason? For instance, buying the variety pack of chips only because you think the Doritos look good? Then, at home, you eat those two bags first, and settle for the two bags of Cheetos some other day, but there are like two to four other bags in there you don't even touch. I mean, why not just by the big bag of Doritos, it's certainly cheaper? What makes buying snack-sized foods irresistable?

The irresistablity of the single packs are you aren't expected to offer to SHARE with anyone.

It's also why you buy the bag of 51 OREOs in the non-resealable bag.
You have to eat them quickly- even if you are by yourself when you open them......You don't wanna waste money by them going stale, after all......Right?

People like variety, the illusion of choice, and if it's cute and individual sized, who can resist? And what if later on you really want those other discarded bags, it could happen!

And not having to share - how refreshing! I'll have to remember the money wasting excuse, er, theory.
