General Purposes

Bear with me folks, I'm new to blogging. That's why the first few posts will be pretty cheesy while I'm still learning and finding a voice on here. It won't explain why all the latter posts will be lame, however. I'll have no excuses at that point.

I feel like I need one of those "Hello! My Name Is" tags. I guess that's what the profile is for. (maybe I should fill that out?)
Better blogging through vicarious living - please note it does not say 'excellent and amazing blogging' just 'better blogging'. Meaning if I blogged about my own life all the time, I wouldn't even read it. I find I have reached a point where I feel that although my own life is comfortable and nice and just plain swell, everyone else's is just so much more exciting. Living vicariously through others is not a substitute for improving and changing your own life; it is merely a hobby I've stumbled into.

Hence the joys of the blogging world. I've lurked around on blogger for a week or two, and better entertainment you couldn't ask for. It's like one big soap opera, hold the bad acting. Illicit affairs, secrets, social commentary, stand-up comedy routines. With a click of the 'next blog' button you can be entertained, amused, angered, turned on or intrigued. Gotta appreciate a medium like that.

You're right, it is like a big soap opera. The amount of content out there doesn't surprise me (it is the Internet after all) but what surprised me was the amount of actually good and halfway decent stuff you can find. There are a lot of interesting, talented people out there giving us a slice of their lives. Screw reality telivision, this is way better. Now if I can only find enough time to read it all. Maybe there needs to be a service that culls all the best stuff into one resource, sort of a Reader's Digest for blogs.

Hope you find your "voice"!
